The estates and the pads

Why a Melton crew changes the day
Tipper round trips to a licensed facility are shorter from Melton than from a yard on the other side of the river. Fewer dead hours on the West Gate means more loads in the same machine day. The day rate on a card can look identical while the finish time does not.

Winter cuts need a weather day between the cut and the slab. A pad left open in the rain becomes the concreter’s problem and then, unfairly, the earthworks crew’s reputation. Book the sequence, not only the dig.
Booking around the slab
Volume builders in these suburbs run tight programs. Confirm the slab date, book the cut one to two weeks ahead, and keep a day up your sleeve from June to September. Late bookings go to the back of a diary that is already full of the same stage.
Send the cut sheet, the lot number and a photo from the front if the crossover is still temporary. If soil removal is to be included — it usually is, via our tippers — say whether any fill must stay for landscape. Most estate lots want it gone.
A guide range of about $4,500–$10,000 covers many ordinary house cuts with spoil away here in 2026. Sloping side boundaries, rock, and a lot that was used as a site shed compound sit outside that band. Use the range to budget, then get the quote.
What we need from you
Address or lot and stage, the PDF levels, the slab week, and whether the block is vacant. If a house is still on it, do not send it as a vacant estate cut. That is a knockdown sequence and a different crew for the structure.

Sometimes. Floaters are more common than a deep shelf, and less predictable than the Werribee basalt stories, but they happen in Taylors Hill and Hillside too. Put a rock allowance in the quote before the machine is booked.
Is soil removal included?
On our quotes, usually yes — the cut and the tip are one crew. Confirm it in the writing. A cut that leaves a pile on a 400 m² estate lot is not finished.
